Volunteer Opportunities
The call to volunteer is powerful, and at Solidarity Bride we celebrate its ability for bi-directional transformation, understanding that we receive as we give. In Bolivia and Paraguay, 13 million people do not have access to affordable and timely surgical care. Now, more than ever, communities need our support. By joining this mission, you can make a substantial impact in global health.
Travel With Us
Specialized medical practitioners from the United States can join their Bolivian and Paraguayan peers as respected collaborators in an effort to increase access to safe, affordable and timely surgical and medical care. Teams provide mentoring and training in advanced skills and techniques; identify and progressively fill equipment and supply needs; and work alongside their local partners to perform particularly complex surgeries for patients in need. Visiting professionals also expand their peer networks and widen their own abilities to manage diverse medical and surgical scenarios.
Short-term medical and support teams may include surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technicians, nurses, clinicians, supply coordinators, interpreters, chaplains, and photographers. We travel each year to support development in our four program areas, as well as one multi-specialty trip per year that includes requested medical care outside of our focus programs, such as dermatology and family medicine. Spanish fluency is not required and medical interpreters are provided.
In-Person/Remote Volunteer
In-Person volunteering in our Evanston office is a great opportunity for individuals who want to get more deeply involved in our work. Help is needed with short-term and long-term tasks, from preparing a bulk mailing to event planning. Remote volunteering is also an option for those with the following skills: English-Spanish interpretation, global health research, communications, grantwriting, fundraising, video production, Salesforce administration, and IT support. Reach out to us as we may have special projects that could be a good fit for you!
If you’re in Bolivia and would like to volunteer, contact our sister organization, Puente de Solidaridad, headquartered in Cochabamba, Bolivia.
