Our team has spent significant time preparing for this trip, but there is always more to learn. To give us a better understanding of our patients’ lives and communities, our partners arranged visits to the homes of former patients.

We embark on our 100th trip!

A recent collaborative effort provided life-saving heart procedures for 23 pediatric patients at the beginning of September.

Through both mission trips and and an on-going year round program, we have advanced training in minimally invasive general surgery in Bolivia.

Providing equipment and training in advanced techniques has been the key to raising the level of neurosurgical care throughout Bolivia.

During this second mission trip to Paraguay, rather than treat patients, we are starting by listening. We have listened to key leaders from medical, governmental, and faith backgrounds with whom we hope to partner in the future. Developing this local network of support is essential to making our efforts viable and impactful. We cannot do this work alone.

Following up on our General Surger Mission Trip we find that it is good to be home—for our missioners, and for our patients, some of whom had been in the hospital for weeks or even months waiting for surgery.

Our executive director shares an update from Paraguay and reflects on the need for a wide variety of resources to strengthen our mission work.

Our neurosurgery team soon departs for Paraguay where a promising new partnership has begun at the public hospital in Asunción.

This week, we return to the San Juan de Dios Hospital to continue a partnership launched in 2015, working alongside the hospital’s dedicated O.R. staff to expand laparoscopic training.

Our Gynecologic Surgery Program serves those patients who are so often overlooked, post-reproductive age women.
