While it was still dark, Resurrection began

On the first day of the week,
Mary of Magdala came to the tomb early in the morning,
while it was still dark,
and saw the stone removed from the tomb.

John 20:1-9

While it was still dark.
While it was still night.
While she could not see.
While she thought death held sway.
While she grieved.
While she wept.
While it was still dark, resurrection began.

While it was still dark, resurrection began. On this Easter morning, in the midst of a global pandemic, we are aware of the darkness around us—of illness and death, of fear and suffering, of loss and grief. And it is right here, in this moment and in this darkness that resurrection begins.

On this Easter morning,
May we hold tight to our belief in Christ’s resurrection and the promise of new life.
May we see the many signs of this resurrection all around and within us.
May we boldly proclaim our Alleluia!

Happy Easter, from all of us at Solidarity Bridge
