NEUROSURGERY IN BOLIVIA
For those with spinal or brain illness or injury, a neurosurgery can mean the difference between life and death. In the U.S., neurosurgery has advanced considerably and surgeons perform miracles everyday. However, in Bolivia, neurosurgeons continue to use primitive technology and the poor have little access to any services at all. While there are dedicated Bolivian neurosurgeons willing to care for their fellow citizens, their resources are extremely limited.
Without recourse, impoverished Bolivians suffer horribly with painful and disabling neurological conditions. Children wait endlessly in hospitals for shunts to drain the fluid from their swollen heads. Injured workers, previously earning just a few dollars a day as the only income for their families, now remain bedridden for months because of spinal fractures. Without our help, these people live in agony or die. |

NEUROSURGEY PROGRAM
Under the leadership of Richard Moser, MD, Solidarity Bridge supplies our Bolivian partners with critically needed neurosurgery materials, equipment, instruments, implants and training. We own and maintain the equipment and supplies, ensuring that the resources are truly accessible to those with no other means and in the most critical medical need.
While focusing on serving Bolivians in deep poverty, the Neurosurgery Program improves neurosurgical care for all Bolivians. We target two major population centers in Bolivia - Cochabamba and Santa Cruz - to provide equipment and infrastructure in support of neurosurgery in public hospitals. |
