Our General Surgery Program serves those living in poverty in Cochabamba, Bolivia who suffer from gall bladder, hernia, and intestinal problems. Our gall bladder and colostomy reversal surgeries are performed laparoscopically which means a shorter recovery time than an open surgery. This can be crucial to a patient whose family relies on their income to survive.

Our year-round program is supported by annual medical mission trips. These trips focus on bringing U.S. surgeons who are experts in their field to teach new general surgery techniques and equip the local Bolivian surgeons. This training primarily focuses on laparoscopy techniques. On these trips we perform surgeries focusing on cancer, colostomy reversals, mega colon resections, gall bladders, and hernias.
