Expanding networks of solidarity among more partners on both sides of the bridge is the key to sustainable and dynamic growth across our medical programs. Three exciting initiatives currently in different stages of development demonstrate the power of this strategy.
(1) Institute for the Development of Neurosurgery. This new institute will provide a permanent location on the Colegio Medico campus in Santa Cruz with sustainable infrastructure for ongoing training and equipping of neurosurgeons from Bolivia and neighboring South American countries in the field's most up-to-date technologies and methodologies.
(2) Pediatric Heart Surgery Center. Accessing open heart surgery is practically impossible for Bolivian children from low or even moderate-income families. Through our new partnership with the public children’s hospital in Santa Cruz, we aim to dramatically increase Bolivia's capacity in these life-saving surgeries for the country's most vulnerable children.
(3) Integral Epilepsy Center. Bolivia is the only South American country that does not have an integral center offering continuum of care for epilepsy patients. Solidarity Bridge is in advanced planning stages alongside diverse Bolivian and U.S. partners toward the establishment of such a center to offer a full range of specialized diagnosis; medical, therapeutic and surgical treatment, and follow-up care for the large underserved population of epilepsy patients in the country.
